Round of 16: 30 June-3 July
Quarters/Semis/Final: 6-15 July
Over 1500 Aussie fans headed over to Brazil with Fanatics to 'Follow Australia' during the group stages and experienced everything; from the highs and lows of following the Socceroos during their group matches against Chile, the Netherlands and Spain through to the world class entertainment provided by the Stafford brothers, Fatboy Slim and the 'Superband' which included some of Australia's best musicians. Memories were made in Brazil that will last a lifetime.
With Brazil now behind us it is time to look forward to 2018 and what an event this will be. Russia will be in all its glory as it becomes the first country in the former Soviet Union to host the FIFA World Cup™. Russia is the largest country in the world and is renowned for its diverse cultures, architecture, food and of course Vodka. With a large number of cities playing host to matches throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ you will get the complete Russian experience on what is set to be a trip of a lifetime.
Russia 2018 QualifyingThe Socceroos' final road to Russia 2018 has been announced and although they’ve been handed a challenging draw, it will set for some nail biting matches to determine their 4th straight appearance at the world’s biggest sporting event.
They will have to fight for their spot alongside Japan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Thailand. Here is the Socceroos 2018 World Cup Qualifiers:
Thur 1 Sep 2016: Australia v Iraq (HOME)
Tue 6 Sep 2016: UAE v Australia (AWAY)
Thur 6 Oct 2016: Saudi Arabia v Australia (AWAY)
Tue 11 Oct 2016: Australia v Japan (HOME)
Tue 15 Nov 2016: Thailand v Australia (AWAY)
Thur 23 Mar 2017: Iraq v Australia (AWAY)
Tue 28 Mar 2017: Australia v UAE (HOME)
Thur 8 Jun 2017: Australia v Saudi Arabia (HOME)
Thur 31 Aug 2017: Japan v Australia (AWAY)
Tue 5 Sep 2017: Australia v Thailand (HOME)
The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ in Russia.
Meantime, the 3rd placed team from each group will play-off over two legs on 5th & 10th October, with the play-off winner facing the 4th placed CONCACAF team over two legs on 6th & 14th November for the last available spot for Russia.
So if the Socceroos do well in their group right from the outset, they could already have qualified for Russia by 8 June 2017. If things go down to the wire as it did for Brazil, it won't be until August/September 2017 that will determine the top two places in the group & guaranteed qualification for Russia.
