Roff out of Sevens, Fava in 26/01/2003 07:02:01 PM
Wallaby winger Joe Roff has been ruled out of next weekend's Brisbane World Rugby Sevens with a mild hamstring strain.
ACT Brumbies player loose forward Scott Fava replaces Roff in the Australian team for the Ballymore tournament.
The tournament was to have marked Roff's return to Australian colours after a year away playing club rugby in France.
"It is a shame to lose a great player like Joe, but in a game like Sevens, where you have a squad of 12 guys playing up to six games in two days, it is not worth losing a player in the first five minutes with a torn hamstring," said Australian Sevens coach Bill Millard.
"Scott Fava is a fantastic replacement. He is just as big and strong as Joe and brings important ball-winning and lineout skills to the team.
"I had planned on playing Joe in the forwards, so Scott will fit right in.
