Force get thumped on UK tour By Justin Chadwick 24/08/2008 04:07:16 PM
Western Force have suffered their second defeat of their UK development tour, going down 22-3 to Northampton Saints overnight. The Force kicked the opening score of the match courtesy of a Scott Daruda penalty but from there it was all the home side. With scores locked at 3-3 at half-time, Northampton's Chris Ashton enjoyed a pair of tries after the break to help set up the thumping victory. The Force, who have cancelled Thursday's clash with Northampton's academy squad due to a spate of injuries, will face last year's Premiership finalists Leicester Tigers on Saturday in their final match of the five-week tour. Four players have been forced home from the tour to date. Utility back Scott Staniforth aggravated a knee injury, Sam Wykes will be forced to undergo surgery after dislocating his shoulder while winger Caleb Brown (hamstring) and James Dougall (hand) were the other casualties.
