Sharpe called up for Wallabies 24/08/2008 08:03:11 PM
Sacked Wallabies lock Nathan Sharpe has been given a reprieve and summoned to South Africa after the Australian side ran into injury and judiciary problems in Saturday's win over the Springboks. Western Force captain Sharpe was the notable omission from the touring squad, but a shoulder injury to lineout chief Dan Vickerman and a suspension cloud hanging over flanker Rocky Elsom have resulted in coach Robbie Deans sending the SOS. Vickerman left the field a minute before halftime in the 27-15 win at ABSA Stadium, while Elsom will front the SANZAR judiciary on Monday on a dangerous play charge after he pulled Springboks jumper Victor Matfield down in a lineout. The Wallabies also have an injury concern over centre Berrick Barnes, who injured his shoulder and left the field after 20 minutes. Australia broke an eight-year drought on South African soil and next Saturday will seek to break a 45-year hoodoo at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
