Woman injured at NRL star Bird's home
24/08/2008 05:51:33 PM

A woman has been injured during an alleged altercation at the home of NRL star Greg Bird, according to reports.

NSW Police Force said an investigation was underway but a spokesman would not confirm the incident occurred at Bird's Cronulla home.

"Police are investigating an alleged altercation at a premises in Cronulla (Sunday) morning which resulted in a woman sustaining an eye injury," the spokesman said.

"Inquiries into the incident are continuing."

The identity of the injured woman was not yet known, according to News Ltd, but Bird had recently started a new relationship.

Bird has played for the Cronulla Sharks and in state and Australian representative rugby league teams, since making his NRL debut in 2002.

Bird has told Sharks officials the altercation was between two guests at his apartment, networks Seven and Nine reported.

The 24-year-old five-eighth has told his club he will cooperate with police, the reports said.
