Phillip Island expecting bumper crowd
12/10/2007 11:47:23 PM

The Phillip Island Grand Prix is expecting to smash its own record for the biggest crowd this weekend after 27,500 people watched Friday's session.

Victoria Police said the large crowd was generally well behaved but two men were arrested following a fight in the Champions Bar.

"An 18-year-old man received facial injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance members," Victoria Police's Acting Sergeant Adam West said.

"Two men were arrested and taken to the Cowes police station. The men, a 61-year-old Queensland man and a 47-year-old man from Kinglake, are currently assisting police with their enquires."

Apart from the two arrests, Superintendent Geoff Newby said: "We are very happy with the crowd's behaviour.".

"We are looking at a record crowd this weekend and would like to remind patrons that this is an event for all to enjoy," Supt Newby said.
