The World Cup is in February/March next year. And the Aussies must be the favourites for winning that, at this stage.

Assuming, of course, that the Indian security situation doesn't deteriorate, requiring the tournament to be moved, probably to Australasia.

Collingwood equates the T20 victory as significant as an Ashes victory

If that isnt setting up for a whitewash in the ashes nothing is !

A mickey mouse competition, with no real preliminary games,

Why not just go out and toss the coin, this is something that collingwoods excells at

Lets get real here noone really gives a toss about T20, it is that far removed from real cricket it hardly warrants debate, the fact that a senior cricketer would make such a comment is a worry, collingwood wouldn't make a state side in Australia, that is a fact

The Tournament didnt rate over here, it is football season, if we won it would hardly cause a ripple, I think Australian Cricket fans have more intelligence and respect for what real cricket is

As Gimtas has posted the world cup is next year, Australia has won it 4 times Innnngerlund has yet to get close

50/50 cricket is authentic cricket, when INgerlUnd get close to winning this cup pommy posters can feel as though they have won something, until that time England remains a 3rd world county insofar as cricket goes, it has never won anything of substance

Mr Barnes I extremely dissapointed in you. 50/50 cricket is authentic cricket? Dear oh dear. Nothing you say on cricket can ever be taken seriously again.

My own personal thoughts are that 50/50 odi's are authentic cricket matches, they allow strategy, tactics, and are long enough to allow changes in momentum throughout the game. 50/50 tests the complete strength of a cricket side, while some games are won due to an individual innings or bowling performance, this can also be said about test cricket

If you tested the dna of 20/20 it is almost unrecognisable to test cricket, 50/50 cricket is the same species however and this legitimises the game

Default English born players

When was the last time that England played an all-English born team in a Test?
Apparently it was: Galle, Dec 2003, but only due to (ex-capt) Hussain (born India) missing it due to injury!

When was the last time that Australia played an all-Australian born team in a Test? Its last completed Test - Hamilton NZ in March 2010.

A decent rationale. One I disagree with, but I can see your point. I wouldn't go so far as to say it legitimises the game.
Being the traditionalist I am, I still cannot see beyond test cricket which IS cricket.
With regard to 20/20, I have never been a supporter. However if one is to compete then you would rather be the victors than not. No?
