When and where is the tomato fight?
The tomato fight is held in the village of Buñol located in the hills 40km north of Valencia in Spain. In the morning of the last Wednesday of August the town is inundated with adventurers from all over Spain and the world and at 11am the trucks full of tomatoes roll into town for an hour of mayhem!
What kinds of accommodation are available during La Tomatina?
During La Tomatina we have a choice of beach camping, city centre hostel or luxury hotel accommodation options all of which are extremely popular. Camping and hostel packages run for three nights while our hotel package is two nights.
How far is the beach campsite from Valencia?
Our Valencia beach campsite is located on Valencia’s southern beaches and is just 15 minutes from the heart of town on our campsite transfers or the local bus. Our crew will be in town to meet you on the opening day of the tour and we have coach transfers to our Valencia party night and the tomato fight in Buñol.
Where are the Valencia hostels and hostel?
Our hostels are located in the heart of Valencia’s old town centre just a short walk from Valencia’s nightlife, tourist attractions and main station. Our luxury hotel is right next to Valencia’s new Arts & Sciences complex and just a short bus ride (or even quicker taxi) from the old town centre, Valencia’s main beach and the America’s Cup port & Formula 1 complex.
Can I share accommodation with my mates?
Of course! Tents at our campsite are allocated on arrival so our check-in crew at the campsite will be able to place you together. If you’d like to share a hostel or hotel room with your friends just email us at london@thefanatics.com with everyone’s names and we’ll link your bookings to get you together on the tour.
How do I get to town from the airport?
Valencia’s airport is connected to town by the local metro, simply get your ticket before jumping on board.
Can I book extra nights?

What do I need to bring with me?
We’d advise you to only bring along what you’re going to need while at the festival. Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll need:
Clothes:
- Needless to say, the festival gets messy so you should dress accordingly
- Strong, fully enclosed shoes to wear at the tomato throwing e.g. trainers (no thongs, sandals or loose fitting footwear)
- Goggles optional
- Boardies/bikini
Essentials:
- Passport (a visa is not required for Aussies & Kiwis)
- Travel insurance documents – contact us if you’d information on purchasing travel insurance
- Any essential personal medication (eg. Ventolin puffer for asthma sufferers)
- Small back pack/day pack
- Some Euros in cash (there’s no ATM at the campsite)
- Towel
- Sunscreen & hat
- Sleeping bag & small pillow for campers (sleeping mats are available to rent at the campsite for €5, however sleeping bags are not available for hire)
- A small lock is advised for locking your tent zippers
- Money belt to carry cash, passport etc. There are no lockers or valuables storage at the campsite so we advise keeping valuables to a minimum (you don't need your laptop!)
What should I take with me to the tomato throwing?
At the festival you’ll really only need enough Euros in cash to buy some drinks and lunch after the tomato throwing. You should bring a towel and dry change of clothes with you which you can leave on the coach and change into before we depart Buñol. You will be able to leave valuables on board our coaches which will be locked while we are at the festival.
Is it safe to store my belongings in my tent at the campsite?
Our tents are located in our own section of the campsite and the campsite has security patrolling our tent area when the group is in town and at the tomato throwing. While we haven’t had any problems with theft in the past we would still recommend that you keep the valuables you bring with you to a minimum and keep any valuables you do have (wallet, phone, camera) on you when you go into town.
Can I park a van at the campsite?
All of our camping accommodation is in our pre-erected twin and single tents. Our campsite doesn’t have places for vans to park on site. If you are driving to Valencia you can park in the campsite car park.
Is there anything I need to know before I come to maximise the trip?
All tour information is on our website and will be on our tour notice boards during the festival. We will also be running Tour Info nights at some of London’s best pubs during the lead up to the festival so those of you in London can come along and check out our video footage of past tours, have a beer or two with others coming to La Tomatina this year and ask our crew any questions you have about the festival.
If booking for more than one person what is the best way to pay?
Getting a group along to La Tomatina? You can either make your booking together on one invoice by paying the deposit payment on one card and then making balance payments on as many different cards as you like, or you can simply make individual bookings and then email us at london@thefanatics.com and we will link your booking invoices together.
When is final payment due?
Final payments are due six weeks before the tour. When making your booking you can either pay the full balance or deposit amount. Deposits are typically £50 per person for camping packages, £75 for hostel & hotel packages and £100 for our combo tours. Bookings made within six weeks of the tour require full payment when booking.
