Broncos certainties for the 2008 Premiership?

Anyone watching Friday nights match against the Cowboys will realise that the Brisbane Broncos are now hot favourites to win the 2008 Premiership.

When the club lost accomplished internationals Petero Civoniceva (Penrith), Brent Tate (New Zealand Warriors), Shaun Berrigan (Hull, UK) & Dane Carlaw (Les Catalans) for the 2008 season some 'experts' had the Broncos down as favourites for the spoon.

But Super coach Wayne Bennett has reinvigorated an aging squad with the addition of boom half-back Peter Wallace from Penrith who lead the team with conviction on Friday night despite the absence of Australian captain Darren Lockyer.

The addition of previously under-performing Ashton Sims (St George Illawarra) has provided the pack with the starch many thought would be missing with Petro's departure.

Journeyman PJ Marsh has a new lease of life since coming over from Parramatta & has linked up well with incumbent number 9 Michael Ennis.

While the Storm are still the bookies favourite I cant go past a Broncos team that look fit, drilled & enthusiastic. Look out when Hunt & Lockyer return.

I read today that the Bronco's have signed Storm centre Israel Folau which is a massive coup for the club. I don't like the Bronco's but year after year they keep producing & are one of the competitions premier organisations.

Who do you think will test the Bronc's in 2008?

  • i think its a tad early to be claiming the broncos are clear cut certainties, i'll wait till they have played the storm this week and till after the origin break before claiming any team for a certainty
