POSITION VACANT

Cricket Australia is a world leader in the field of sporting excellence. Due to unforseen circumstances, a position has recently become vacant for a full-time spin bowler. The successful applicant will have an advanced knowledge of the art of spin bowling, with a basic knowledge in the fields of batting and slips catching. International experience is advantageous, but not a requirement. Previous holders of this position have shown an ability to learn quickly on the job, and exhibit high levels of success, particularly when faced with opposition from the United Kingdom or Daryl Cullinan.

The successful applicant will be between 20 – 26 years of age, with a view to long-term employment well in to the next decade. The applicant must be willing and able to travel for at least 6 months of the year to all parts of the globe in the warmest time of the year. Applicants from New South Wales will have an advantage, so it may be advantageous to relocate there, as some previous applicants have done.

The position may include duties such as, but not limited to:
• Working in hostile environments and politically unstable regions.
• Occasional moments of brilliance.
• Attending to the needs of fellow employees in a 12th man role.
• Some media liaison.

Desirable character traits include:
• High self esteem/confidence levels
• Mental strength
• Ability to handle criticism/unfair comparisons to predecessors.
• Safe hands and a keen eye.
• The ability to operate in a team environment.

The position comes with a healthy remuneration package including uniform, travel expenses and a mobile phone account. If successful, the applicant is expected to be available immediately. Hours of work vary, but mostly run from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, with occasional weekend and shift work. Overtime is not encouraged, and may lead to salary deductions.

Please forward all applications to:

Andrew Hilditch,
Chairman of Selectors
Cricket Australia

Applications close 5:00pm June 30th, 2008.
Previous applicants need not apply.
