Around the Wicket - The Rant

Welcome to the first ever rant - a way for me to forget about cohesion and flow in my writing, and just lay it all out there as I think of it. Here goes.

Club should never come before country in cricket. If the Chennai Super Kings think that Matt Hayden and Mike Hussey will play in the 20/20 Champions League rather than play for Australia, they are fair dinkum dreaming. Both have already said they won’t, as there is a tour match in India to play instead. But, maybe Hayden won’t have a choice by then (as in he won’t be in the side!)

Shane Watson for one day opener? Good for now, but when Hayden comes back, I dunno. It’s a better option than Simon “Boycott” Katich for sure. I like Shaun Marsh though. The kid has talent. Hayden and Marsh at the top of the order? Sounds good to me.

Rain shortened 20/20 matches are mind blowingly stupid. What’s the point of even playing a game of cricket that lasts just 20 overs? Seriously, eleven overs can constitute an innings now? Give me a break – just refund the punters money. A 20 over match gets us about an hour and a half of cricket – you can’t charge people money to watch that.

What about the Kiwis getting shafted in England? One more over would have constituted a match – and a New Zealand win. Do I smell shenanigans?

Asian Cup hey? Well, I know I’m looking forward to Pakistan vs Hong Kong. Won’t that be a riveting encounter? However, if anybody could lose to Hong Kong – it would be Pakistan. But the less said about that, the better. Could Honkers become Ireland the 2nd?

I read that Punter wants Cam White to be the one day spinner. Sorry? Beau Casson would be stoked to hear that. Has his star faded already? Not that I’m against a Victorian being picked in front of a “Canadian”, but White is nowhere near as good a bowler as Casson. He’s not even the spinner for the Vics one day team. Picking all these all rounders instead of specialists will backfire on us at some stage.

Couldn't agree with you more. I have no problem with 20twenty cricket, but turning it into 20 cricket is just the result of money grabbing administrators and cricket boards the world over.
Stick it to em, Brem, go for it!
    Cheers
