The perfect start to an amazing summer

Pamps is definitely one of my top few European adventures. I rocked up to the Fanatics campsite fresh from a few days at Ibiza – the energy levels weren’t very high, eg. I was dragging my pack along the ground coz I couldn’t even lift it up. I had no idea what to expect but the party was well and truly already going at the campsite so I got back on the wagon. I was surprised at just how many people were at the campsite – it is really one big party.

The setup was cool as you are never far from the main area or the toilet blocks etc that makes for easy camping. I was also really surprised to see heaps of people that I had met in London were also with the Fanatics campsite which was an added bonus. I was super excited for the opening ceremony but not so excited at the early morning wake up call after hardly any sleep. The campsite was buzzing with hundreds of excited half pissed partygoers dressing up in their whites ready for the ceremony. Someone was selling cheap champers at the campsite so we stocked up for the bus-ride but we got a little excited and ended up spraying each-other with that and sangria before we even made it to the bus.

Once we got into the city the atmosphere was like nothing I have ever experienced before (or since actually). There are people everywhere, everyone is dressed up in their whites and we made our way towards the main square. In the main square its just carnage. The only way I can describe it is like a crazy Spanish mosh pit where everyone is tipping sangria on everyone else and partying like crazy. The party went on for a few hours but to be honest it’s one big blur of jumping up and down and being covered in sangria to the point where I couldn’t even see, and then we headed back to the campsite to continue the ridiculousness.

The next morning the fanatics crew came around the tents at some stupid hour yelling at us to get up for the bull run – getting up is the last thing you feel like doing but its so worthwhile. We didn’t run but went to watch in the stadium after grabbing some scalper tickets from just outside. Its freezing – sit on the sunny side!! Watching the run is amazing – and scary – you fear for the lives of the idiots that you know who are in the ring teasing the bulls. When all the fun and games is over in town, you know that there’s always going to be something happening back at the campsite, whether it’s chilling by the pool or getting on the beers. Or both.

The whole thing is an amazing experience and a must do – and it’s the best way to start off a European summer of travelling coz you meet so many people that you will bump into everywhere else you go. Going with the fanatics made everything super easy and means that you don’t have to worry about the logistics of anything or how to get anywhere, its all sorted for you so you can just get on with having a good time.☺
