Member Spotlight On Andrew Ledger

1. Name:

Andrew Ledger

2. Nickname(s):

Captain Australia, Captain, The Captain, Fanatics Captain

3. High School:

Brisbane Grammar School

4. What city are you living in:

At the moment I'm living in Bloody Brisbane! But I will soon be living in the back of a Hilux as I am about to embark on a massive road trip adventure around Australia.

5. First Fanatics Tour:

2000 Brazil Tie on the Potato Patch (Brisbane)

6. What do you do when you are not on tour:

Work at Video Ezy - where the choice is easy! I put the easy in Video Ezy! Apart from that I don't do much apart from dream about the next tour!! (Very cliche but very true!)

7. Favourite sporting moment while on tour with the Fanatics:

Jeese!! If I had to name one...I wouldn't! I'd do a Bruce McAvaney and name them all (in alphabetical order)! They've all been very special moments! Although I must say I didn't overly enjoy losing to France in the final last year.

8. Favourite non-sporting moment while on tour with the Fanatics:

That would have to be after the 2001 semi-final victory party in Sydney when we stumbled back to the mecca that is the Vulcan Backpacker Hostel and found our mate Tommy Baggage Stephens passed out on the throne with his pants around his ankles.

In a rare moment of intense patriotism/drunkeness it seemed he had decided it was a good idea to apply green and gold war paint to his own scrotum!!

9. One sporting event you haven't been to but would love to attend:

The Birdsville Races. I reckon there'd be some really top sheilas there!!

10. Where would people find you at 3am on a regular Saturday night:

Your guess is as good as mine! But if you had to take a stab in the dark chances are you might find me either passed out in the Brisbane Botanical Gardens or passed out on a cold kitchen floor wearing nothing but ski boots and ski goggles.

11. When you are on tour who is one person you hate rooming with & why:

I've only ever roomed with my mates from Brisbane...and I bloody love every single one of them!! It's just like being in the trenches at Gallipoli!!

I'm not too sure they enjoy rooming with me though??? Especially when I recite Rupert McCall poetry at 4 in the morning.

12. Which song will always get you dancing on the bar:

The bloody National Anthem!

13. Favourite drink:

Beer! I don't mind the odd scotch every now and again as well (aged 18 years...just the way I like it!)

14. Creation or evolution:

In the humble words of the great man It's evolution baby!! (Eddie Vedder)

15. Coke or Pepsi:

Neither are a patch on our very own Aussie Cola!

16. Capitalist or Socialist:

Socialist (to be quite honest I couldn't give a rat's arse!)

17. Club or Pub:

Pub

18. Which moment has the most significance in Australian sporting history, was it Cliff Young winning the Sydney to Melbourne marathon running in gumboots, Australia 2's winged keel, Pat Cash's checkered headband, the invention of the padded Torpedo bikepants for under rugby shorts, David Boons 56 tinnies on the flight to London, the collapse of the Hobart DevilsNBL franchise, Warrick Cappers pink Ferrari & mullet haircut or something else:

I reckon Boonie's 56 tinnies is pretty bloody hard to beat!

19. If you could invite 5 people to share a six pack of long necks with who would they be & why:

  • Newk (he's got a bloody great moustache)
  • Boonie (he's also got a bloody great moustache)
  • Pat Rafter (because I wanna be like him when I grow up)
  • Will Smith (without a doubt the coolest man in the world)
  • Jennifer Lopez (I thought she was absolutely brilliant in The Wedding Planner and apparently she broke up with her husband recently. Quite ironic really!)

20. Can you give the people of Australia a tip:

To obtain greatness you have to be willing to reach for it! At the end of the day it all comes down to sacrifice! The Anzacs made sacrifices...they weren't bloody comfortable!!
