More than 2.1 million Australians tuned in to watch Queensland secure an unprecedented fifth consecutive series win against NSW in the State of Origin on Wednesday night.

The Nine Network coverage was the No.1 program across all key demographics with an average of 2,156,000 tuning in to watch the Maroons crush the Blues 34-6 in game two of the series.

The audience figures peaked at 2,462,000 with the program securing a 34.5 per cent audience share across the major cities and 47.7 per cent share along the east coast.

Perhaps as a result of NSW's lacklustre performance, only 42 per cent of Sydney viewers watched the game, while 56.7 per cent of Brisbane viewers tuned in.

Network Ten's hit cooking series MasterChef was the second most watched show with almost 1.8 million viewers, and Seven Network's Today Tonight and Seven News were third and fourth with nearly 1.6 million apiece.
