HISTORY

The Running of the Bulls is held in the Spanish town of Pamplona during the festival of San Fermin - the region’s patron saint. In 1591 the local religious festival was held together with the Pamplona’s traditional summer market fair and the San Fermin festival was born. Since then the festival has grown into the week-long extravaganza it is today, the number one Spanish festival attracting over a million people every year!

THE FESTIVAL

The Running of the Bulls festival begins at midday on 6 June when the mayor of Pamplona sets off a firework from the town hall kicking off the incredible opening ceremony street party. The festival continues non-stop until the closing ceremony at midnight on 14 July. Each morning from 7 to 14 July the famous Running of the Bulls is held at 8am followed by street parades and local fairs. At night the town comes alive with the nightly bull fights followed by the biggest street parties you will ever see. Live music, fireworks and plenty of beer and sangria keep the nightly parties cranking till the small hours of the morning!

FANATICS @ PAMPLONA

Fanatics first attended the Running of the Bulls while trekking through the Spanish countryside in the early 1990’s. Since experiencing that first festival we knew this was something everyone travelling in Europe had to experience and we’ve been organising tours to the festival for over a decade. Trust us, this is one event not to be missed!

WHY DO PAMPLONA WITH FANATICS?

Stay in the heart of the San Fermin madness at our city-centre hostel and don't miss a beat of the partying action!

Escorted walking tours of Pamplona’s running of the bulls course are included in all packages. Our expert bull runners will point out where the bulls are running, the best places to view the run - including options for balcony viewing - as well as the party locations we'll be using for our famous street fiestas.

Our souvenir bulls t-shirt & scarf are also included in your package to ensure you look the part.

Three weeks before the festival we will update our website with details on getting to your accommodation, what to bring and any last-minute tips to make sure you get the most out of the festival.
