Wallabies captain George Gregan has re-signed with the Australian Rugby Union with a further three-year deal.

"I believe the Brumbies and the Wallabies have a lot of great rugby ahead and I am excited at the prospect of being a part of that over the next three years," Gregan said in a statement released through the ARU.

National coach Eddie Jones welcomed his halfback's decision.

"George has already achieved a lot in the game over the last ten years and it's terrific to see him continue his commitment to the Wallabies and Australian Rugby," Jones said.

"His professionalism, experience and leadership is without peer, and it will be a huge asset to the team going into the upcoming tour to France and the UK and then into next season."
