New South Wales beat Tasmania by 25 runs at Bellerive Oval, retaining a chance for a Pura Cup finals berth.

Tasmania looked set to win the game with only 259 runs to chase in its second innings.

But Blues spinner Stuart MacGill claimed six wickets for 85 in a decisive display to help bowl the home team out for 233.

Tasmania's last five wickets fell for 12 runs in 23 balls and three no-run wickets in the last four balls of MacGill's 25th over wrapped up the match.
