Melbourne extended the West Sydney Razorbacks' early-season misery with a crushing 106-77 NBL win on Wednesday night.

Forward Dave Thomas scored 20 points, while Rashad Tucker and Daryl Corletto each added 18 for the Tigers who comfortably claimed their eighth victory of the season to stay within reach of league leaders Adelaide and Sydney.

The 29-point margin was the Tigers biggest over the Razorbacks, and tied for fourth as West Sydney's worst loss in the club's history.

The depleted Razorbacks battled hard, but never looked like challenging their more experienced opponents after the Tigers sprinted to a 26-8 lead in the opening six minutes.

Razorbacks skipper Scott McGregor finished with 17 points and 12 boards with Joel Cornette adding 13 points and a dozen rebounds.

West Sydney's best news of the night however came during the three-quarter-time break when the courtside announcer let slip the Razorbacks had "99.9 per cent" secured the signature of Boomer Pero Vasiljevic.

After being decimated by injuries to key players Nick Horvath and James Harvey, the retirement of Simon Dwight and the walkout of guard Steve Markovic before the start of the season, the addition of Vasiljevic would be a major boost to the Razorbacks, who slumped to their seventh defeat to fall further adrift of the top eight.

Melbourne bolted to a 33-20 quarter-time lead on the back of two early 10-0 runs.

At one stage Thomas was single-handedly outscoring the whole Razorbacks side - tallying 12 of the Tigers' opening 23 points compared to West Sydney's total of just eight.

The lead ballooned to 58-37 by halftime, West Sydney shooting just 30 per cent from the field (12-of-40) compared to Melbourne's 50 per cent (23-of-46). The Tigers were also dominant on the boards, out-rebounding their hosts 33-21.
