Jess Schipper has broken her Commonwealth record in winning the women's 100m butterfly final at the Commonwealth Games trials in Melbourne on Thursday night.

Schipper sliced 0.08 seconds off the mark she set at the Montreal world championships last year to win in a time of 57.15 seconds.

The butterfly specialist managed to finish over the top of Libby Lenton (57.35) with Alice Mills (58.16) third.
