Thorpedo breaks bone in hand

Superfish Ian Thorpe has broken a bone in his hand in an accident at his Sydney home.

He slipped and fell in his bathroom last week, News Limited newspapers have reported.

Thorpe's manager David Flaskas says the injury is not serious, but it's a nuisance.

"He thought he had only jarred it and got on with the rest of his day, but it felt a bit sore so he went and got some X-rays done.

"... Fish out of water, I guess."

Thorpe has had a screw inserted into his right hand, which is heavily bandaged.

A virus forced Thorpe to withdraw from Melbourne's Commonwealth Games in March.

"It would be nice to get some normality back into his life," Mr Flaskas said.
