Makhaya Ntini captured five for 21 to rout Pakistan for 89 on Friday, powering South Africa into the Champions Trophy semi-finals with a 124-run victory.

Pakistan were bowled out in only 25 overs to record their lowest one-day total against South Africa, who claimed their second victory in Group B to qualify for the last four alongside New Zealand.

The 29-year-old Ntini took all his wickets in a brilliant opening five-over spell that yielded figures of five for eight.

Fellow paceman Charl Langeveldt also finished with three for 20.

Earlier, wicketkeeper Mark Boucher (69) and all rounder Justin Kemp (64) put on 131 for the sixth wicket to lead South Africa to 213 for eight after slumping to 42 for five after winning the toss.

Pakistan paceman Umar Gul grabbed two wickets in the opening over while seam bowler Rao Iftikhar picked up two more from successive overs.

Gul eventually finished with three for 36 while Iftikhar took two for 26.

Ntini's hostile opening spell reduced Pakistan to 27 for six in 10 overs, effectively ending the game as a contest.

Pakistan's previous lowest one-day total against South Africa was 109.

Ntini struck with his second delivery when he had Mohammad Hafeez caught at slip for one. Imran Farhat also slashed a short delivery to third man when he was on seven.

The paceman then claimed two wickets in one over to remove captain Younis Khan (7) and Shoaib Malik (0).

Younis top-edged an attempted pull while Malik went to a stunning leg-side catch from Boucher.

Ntini's fifth wicket came when he trapped Kamran Akmal lbw for one, completing his fourth five-wicket haul in one-dayers.
