Grundig closes in

Grundig has made the most of steady down wind pressure and closed to within eight miles of Sydney-Hobart line honours race leader Alfa Romeo.

Sean Langman's super 66 is the fastest off the breeze hull in the southern hemisphere and has moved up from fourth place since Saturday afternoon.

Grundig's move has relegated the 97-foot Canon Leopard into third place, 16 miles back, with Australian yacht Skandia Wild Thing a further eight miles behind in fourth.

Syd Fischer's Ragamuffin is leading the race on handicap from Jim Dunstan's Zeus II, with Impeccable third.
