Australian soccer is up for a number of gongs after its first year in the Asian Football Confederation.

The senior men's and women's teams have been nominated as teams of the year for the AFC annual awards, which will be held on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has been nominated for the association of the year.

The Socceroos, who were the only Asian team to make it through to the second round of the World Cup and qualified first in their group for next year's Asian Cup, have been nominated alongside Iran, Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia.

The Matildas, who finished runners-up to China in the Asian women's Cup and qualified for the World Cup in the process, are up against the Chinese, Korea and the Japanese under 20 team for that award.
