X-rays taken earlier on Monday have confirmed that Barry Hall suffered a broken right wrist at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

The Sydney Swans forward will be operated on later on Monday.

Hall suffered the injury when he ran into the advertising boards along the boundary fence against the West Coast Eagles.

Hall's hand went straight through the board and smashed into the fence behind, causing the injury.

He also suffered a cut to the head in the impact after he ran into the fence at a fast pace.

Hall is facing a lengthy suspension for a knockout blow he landed on Brent Staker's jaw earlier in the match.
