Foot feeling better, says Eagles ruckman

West Coast ruckman Dean Cox has revealed his nagging foot injury is actually repairing with each game he plays, so he had no hesitation signing on for this weekend's Hall of Fame game.

The All-Australian Eagle will be part of a star-studded Dream Team to meet Victoria at the MCG on Saturday.

"I've had interrupted weeks leading into games as it is, so it won't be any different this week," Cox said.

"Knowing that previously I've been getting through the games reasonably well I think I won't have any difficulties this week.

"Every week that I've been playing it's been pulling up better and I think that's the most encouraging sign that it isn't getting worse.

"It's pulled up better this week than it did last week and hopefully it's all steam ahead."

Cox was one of the first players to volunteer for the game, yet he is cautious about whether the concept should continue, believing it is too early to determine if it should be a permanent fixture.

"I think it is," he said.

"I think every player loves to represent their country, their state, in any representative game that they possibly can and that's why most players here have been all for the game.

"To play it on a regular basis the AFL would have to look at scheduling in byes to allow them to do that because it is a long year and if you look at the sides that are going to play in grand finals, it's a very long year.

"Let's see how this one goes and go onwards and upwards from there."

But he said the week was a good chance for clubs to assess their season so far.

"It gives every club an opportunity to reflect on the year to date," Cox said.

"Some clubs will be happy, some clubs will be disappointed with where they're sitting - it's just a good chance to see individually where your players are at and focus on what you're going to do for the next few rounds."

Meanwhile, Cox is convinced West Coast can dig themselves out of their current malaise, but said it was a difficult situation having played in a premiership in 2006.

"That's been very tough, I think we've always been successful in the last few years and to be in a position we are is something that we're not very happy with.

"But we'll get out of it," he said.
