Wallabies superstar Lote Tuqiri has revealed one of the key reasons behind his form revival this season - less training.

The flyer produced his latest menacing display in Australia's 18-12 win over Ireland in Melbourne on Saturday night - setting up the opening try of the match.

A reinvigorated Tuqiri believed a less strenuous training regime had aided in him rediscovering his zip this year.

"With the Waratahs we certainly trained less this year then we have in the past so I guess that has helped," he said.

"Our medical staff are big advocates about how you feel mentally and physically and asking a lot of questions.

"They have been listening and that has been good so hopefully we can work together.

"It is a really good feeling to go into training and not trained out, it is pretty positive at the moment and we want to keep it that way."

Tuqiri felt empowered by the faith shown in him by new coach Robbie Deans before Saturday week's Test against France at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.

"I have always had a licence but I think it is just being given the power to back myself a bit more," he said.

"I guess that is exciting and I am looking forward to doing that hopefully over the next couple of Tests."

He felt there was enormous improvement in Australia's backline as youngsters Luke Burgess, Peter Hynes, Berrick Barnes and Cameron Shepherd gel with their senior teammates.

"There is a massive amount, Cameron is quite young in his Test career and a couple of guys with not a lot of experience at Test level," he said.

"With that experience I guess they will know sort of what to do and how to go about things."

Deans forecast minimal changes for the opening clash in the two-Test series against France.

Rookies Luke Burgess and Peter Hynes are seemingly assured of another crack after being praised by the coaching mastermind.

"It was not an easy circumstance for any of them to make their debuts and they stood out like beacons I thought," he said.

France will be forced to send a weakened squad out for the two Tests with players from the top four clubs contesting the business end of their domestic competition.

But Deans said the French would be as formidable as ever.

"There is no such thing as a bad French team when they pull that jumper on, they are a very spiritual people and they will play well," he said.

Tuqiri was equally cautious about what the Europeans would throw up.

"I think they will travel well, there is a lot of young guys they will pick, they are a pretty expansive squad and they will play an expansive game," he said.

"You never sort of know what sort of team turns up for the French."
