Fremantle defender Roger Hayden will remain at the AFL club until the end of 2010 after signing a one-year contract extension.

Hayden was already contracted for 2009 but said he was eager to commit for an additional season.

"With all the young blokes coming through and the number of new players joining Fremantle, it's going to be an exciting time to be around the club," Hayden said.

"I've still got a lot to contribute and I'm keen to be a part of Fremantle's future."

The dashing 28-year-old, who is part of Australia's squad for the upcoming international rules series, has played 94 games since making his debut in 2002 when he was elevated off the rookie list.

A punctured lung restricted Hayden to just 14 games this season but in six seasons at the club the 182cm speedster has cemented himself as the Dockers' premier small defender.
