Hawks recall stars for clash with Eagles

A week after fielding only one premiership player, Hawthorn have named a squad that much better resembles their round-one AFL side for their final practice match.

The Hawks recalled 10 members of their triumphant grand final team for Friday's NAB Challenge match against West Coast at Princes Park.

Brent Renouf was the only premiership player in the team last week for the trip to the Riverland to play Adelaide in Berri as the Hawks gained special AFL permission to promote several VFL personnel.

But captain Sam Mitchell, Norm Smith medallist Luke Hodge and Coleman medallist Lance Franklin lead the inclusions this week.

Hodge and Franklin are set for their first pre-season games this year.

Brad Sewell, Jarryd Roughead, Mark Williams, Clinton Young, Brent Guerra, Stuart Dew and Cyril Rioli are also in the squad.

The Eagles have rested captain Darren Class, Dean Cox and David Wirrpanda.

Hawthorn were among several teams who brought back big names a fortnight out from round one of the regular season.

St Kilda recalled captain Nick Riewoldt for Friday's match against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

Minor knee surgery two months ago has sidelined Riewoldt until now.

Richmond have recalled half a dozen top players for Friday night's match against Brisbane on the Gold Coast - Matthew Richardson, Ben Cousins, Brett Deledio, Nathan Foley, Troy Simmonds and Nathan Brown.

Dustin Fletcher, Andrew Lovett, Jobe Watson and Jay Neagle are in Essendon's squad for Friday's night match against North Melbourne in Bendigo.

Adelaide captain Simon Goodwin, Andrew McLeod, Tyson Edwards, Scott Stevens, Scott Thompson and Michael Doughty have boosted their squad for the Friday night home game against Sydney.

Geelong and Collingwood will name their squads on Thursday for the Friday night NAB Cup grand final at Etihad Stadium.

Collingwood have confirmed key defender Harry O'Brien is on indefinite leave after the sudden death of his step father.

Geelong are likely to regain Jimmy Bartel, Corey Enright and Joel Selwood, while the Magpies should recall captain Nick Maxwell and Josh Fraser.
