Broncos 'to cop it from Mason, Myles'

Brisbane expect to cop the full fury of returning booze banned forwards Willie Mason and Nate Myles in the NRL's Easter Friday clash with the Roosters in Sydney.

The representative duo were banished to the NSW Cup at the weekend for breaching the club's drinking policy and will be out to show coach Brad Fittler and teammates they have learned their lesson against Brisbane.

"They're two big game players, big heavy hitters, and it's only going to make it a bit tougher for us," said Broncos prop Joel Clinton.

"I can imagine those two guys will be pretty fired up.

"It will just make it a bigger challenge for us.

"Big Willie will probably have his sleeves rolled up and it'll be a good contest.

"The Roosters are always tough and they'll come out with guns blazing, it will be a big challenge down there."

Brisbane will have their own point to prove after being well and truly beaten by the Dragons at the weekend.

Clinton on Monday described the 25-12 defeat, the club's first loss this season, as "pretty gut wrenching".

But he said the loss had at least provided the coaching staff and players with something to work off and build on.

"The trick is not to back it up with two losses in a row, none of us want that and it's something the Broncos have always tried to avoid," he said.

"We'll lick our wounds and go out this week and try and have a big one."

Clinton agreed after such a tough opening to the season against the Cowboys, Storm and then the Warriors in Auckland that the energy levels were down a bit against the Dragons.

"It probably showed watching the game that we were all a bit flat across the team.

"We got a few young boys that have stepped up this year who are only pups, only 18 or 19, so it's a big ask for them to get up for a big game like that, but they gave it their best."

Clinton didn't train on Monday along with hooker Doug Gorrell (fluid on the knee) and Ben Teo (ankle).

Teo had his left foot in a protective boot, suggesting he could be facing another 2-4 weeks on the sidelines.

Fullback Karmichael Hunt and rookie winger Antonio Winterstein, who were both ill with viral symptoms before playing against the Dragons, trained on Monday and are expected to back up against the Roosters.
