Dream come true for Docker Broughton

Fremantle rookie Greg Broughton has described his selection for Sunday's AFL clash with Adelaide at Subiaco Oval as a "dream come true".

Broughton will become the third Docker to debut this season after coach Mark Harvey swung the axe following the club's winless start to the season.

Daniel Gilmore and Clayton Hinkley have joined Broughton in the 22-man squad at the expense of Paul Duffield (omitted), Scott Thornton (omitted) and Andrew Browne (shoulder).

Harvey said 22-year-old Broughton, who was elevated from the rookie list last month and played every game during the pre-season, was ready for senior footy.

"He doesn't get rattled and he has no fear about putting it on the line," Harvey said.

"He's dogged, determined, hates to be beaten and plays with the desire that you look for.

"Greg has also got a creative side to his game and has good composure for a guy who hasn't played at the elite level."

Broughton, who played in two WAFL premierships with Subiaco, said he was surprised with the early call-up.

"I'm trying not to think about it too much at the moment," he said.

"In early November, I didn't even think I would get the opportunity to get on the rookie list, let alone get elevated.

"Knowing that I'm going to play my first game of AFL in round three is a dream come true."

With first-year players Stephen Hill and Nic Suban also in the side, Fremantle will unleash a vastly inexperienced squad against the Crows, who are eager to bounce back from a week of scrutiny following Nathan Bock's arrest for assault.

The Crows made three changes to the side that lost to St Kilda last week.

Forward Trent Hentschel (knee), midfielder Chris Knights (fractured eye socket) and All-Australian defender Bock (club suspension) couldn't be considered, with Nick Gill, Scott Stevens and Brad Symes.

Harvey said he was eager to continue playing the likes of Hill and Suban in order to fast-track their development.

"We need to evolve with those sorts of guys," Harvey said.

"It was their first trip on the road (last week) and it's always an interesting experience for them.

"The team would have liked to have played better to see how they evolve with a bit more being on the front foot if you know what I mean."
