Brisbane's Sims wary of wounded Eels

Rejuvenated Brisbane forward Ashton Sims expects to face a backlash from an embarrassed Parramatta when the NRL teams clash on Friday night.

Former Eels greats Brett Kenny and Ray Price have joined coach Daniel Anderson in questioning their team's commitment and pride following the 48-18 loss to the Bulldogs on Sunday.

"Usually after that kind of backlash teams come out and put 200 per cent in," said Sims who has battled back from his own form crisis to reclaim a first grade spot with the second-placed Broncos.

"They've got some real quality players like Nathan Cayless and Jarryd Hayne who haven't done anything wrong this year.

"They've got to hit their stride soon and hopefully they don't do it this weekend."

The manner in which Parramatta submitted in the second half against the Bulldogs suggests they'll be easy pickings for Brisbane who have impressed with five wins from six games.

"That's a trap we don't want to fall into," warned Sims.

Sims admitted he'd wrongly expected to be playing first grade at the start of this season.

"I probably thought I'd be in the team because I played last year," he said.

"I didn't trial as well as I wanted to (after a long season which included playing for Fiji in the World Cup) and (coach) Ivan (Henjak) showed me a few things I needed to work on.

"The job's not over yet, I've still got plenty to work on but I think I'm getting back to where I should be.

"I had to get my feet back on the ground and do a lot of hard work and it's paying off now.

"I'm not going to take anything for granted as there's a lot of competition for spots and you have to keep right on top of your game.

"I certainly don't want to be playing Queensland Cup all the time I'm here."

Meanwhile Broncos forward Corey Parker is expected to enter an early guilty plea to a grade one dangerous throw charge and apply for a 50 per cent incident free discount to reduce his carry over points.

Because of his clean judiciary slate after nine seasons and 170 games in the NRL, Parker will be free to play against Parramatta.
