Uncapped flanker Lydiate gets call up

Uncapped Newport flanker Dan Lydiate was called up Sunday by Wales rugby coach Warren Gatland into a 29-man squad for next month's Tests against New Zealand, Samoa, Argentina and Australia.

Lydiate was the only uncapped player in a squad still captained by Ospreys back-row Ryan Jones.

Scrumhalf Dwayne Peel was included even though he will be unavailable for the All Blacks clash on November 7 as his English Premiership club, Sale, will not release him for a match that falls outside the International Rugby Board's window for Test matches.

Peel is the only non-Wales based player in the squad but is seen as a key figure now first-choice scrum-half Mike Phillips, the British and Irish Lions' No 9 in South Africa this year, has been ruled out of all four internationals with an ankle injury.
