Defender Simon Kjaer is in doubt for Denmark's World Cup squad after being carried off on a stretcher during the 2-0 win over Senegal on Thursday.

The injury to Kjaer, who was hurt tackling Mame Biram Diouf nine minutes from the end, wasn't disclosed.

"It's really miserable," coach Morten Olsen said about Kjaer. He declined to speculate whether the Palermo defender would be in the final 23-player squad expected to be announced on Friday, when the team also departs for South Africa.

In the game, Christian Poulsen was set up by Jon Dahl Tomasson in the 27th minute, and Thomas Enevoldsen added the second goal in stoppage time.

Olsen spared veteran goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and key striker Nicklas Bendtner.

Thomas Kahlenberg, Dennis Rommedahl, Mikkel Beckmann and Michael Krohn-Dehli were among the Danes who had shots at the Senegalese goal.

Denmark is in World Cup Group E with the Netherlands, Japan and Cameroon.
