The future of All Whites and Wellington Phoenix soccer coach Ricki Herbert remained unclear this morning amid a report an announcement was imminent.

A newspaper report this morning tipped Herbert was poised to retain both posts and was expected to make the announcement at a press conference in Wellington later on Monday.

Phoenix owner Terry Serepisos and New Zealand Football chairman Frank van Hattum were expected to be beside Herbert at the press conference, the report said.

However, a New Zealand Football spokesman told NZPA this morning he had no knowledge of any press conference for Herbert on Monday involving his organisation.

Nor did Herbert give anything away this morning when interviewed on Radio Sport.

After guiding the All Whites to an unbeaten group campaign - three draws against Slovakia, Italy and Paraguay - at the World Cup in South Africa recently, speculation began swirling over Herbert's coaching future.
