Don't be seduced by win over Cats: Craig

Cast an admiring glance, but don't be seduced by the Adelaide Crows just yet, their coach Neil Craig says.

Adelaide's 11-point upset victory over Geelong on Friday night hoists the Crows to the verge of the AFL's top eight.

Craig is realistic in knowing the 'Crows for finals' bandwagon has started rolling - but he's told his players not to get on.

"Those sort of results, rightly so, give our supporter group a lot of joy because of the quality of football they were able to see," Craig said after their seventh win of the season, 11.8 (74) to Geelong's 9.9 (63).

"Supporters would be thinking that (finals) and we don't have any problem with that situation.

"What we have got to just hone in on, is what we can control.

"Every club wants go there but we have got to make sure we keep our mind on the job of about what creates that sort of performance.

"And make sure we are not seduced by that kind of performance, have some clarity about why, not seduction.

"Because if you get seduced by it, you can fall over pretty quickly."

Despite six straight losses to start the season, Craig said he had never doubted the self-belief of his players.

"I don't think the belief ever left but, in the end, belief is about doing," he said.

"You need to talk about where you want to go and the vision you have, which we do.

"But in the end you can talk as much as you like, belief comes from doing.

"Our performance against a quality side, if it adds to the belief - so it should, because our guys were fantastic."

Craig noted Geelong was being hunted every week by teams wanting to challenge the competition's benchmark.

"Because of their standing in the competition, the respect that all clubs have for them and what they have been able to do, they face that sort of motivation every week from opposition so that just makes their performances even better," Craig said of the Cats.

"When you look back on it, I don't think Geelong have got enough credit for it.

"It's unbelievable what Geelong do."
