North Queensland have signed Penrith second-rower Gavin Cooper on a two-year deal from the start of the 2011 NRL season.

The 25-year-old made his first grade debut for the Cowboys in 2006, before joining the Gold Coast in 2007.

He then joined the Panthers in 2009 and has gone on to play 90 first grade games.

Cowboys Executive Director Peter Parr says the addition of Cooper will be another boost to the remodelled North Queensland team.

"We are confident that Gavin will add plenty of depth to our forward pack, which is already looking formidable with current stock Matt Scott, Aaron Payne, Scott Bolton and James Tamou," Parr said.

"We've been watching Gavin's progress and believe the best of his career is still ahead of him with the Cowboys."
