Within two weeks of having a knee reconstructed, Port Adelaide forward Brett Ebert is cycling.

Ebert was on crutches for just seven days after undergoing LARS surgery on August 24 to repair his right knee.

The Power goalsneak was riding on Thursday but is wary of pushing the knee to the limit.

"It's a change from the past, a year out of the system would be pretty tough," he said on Friday.

"But this new LARS at the moment is working well, so fingers crossed ... in a few weeks hopefully I'll be running."

"Obviously you don't want to push it too hard."

Ebert will be 10 weeks into his recovery when Port returns for preseason training, aiming to play round one next year.

He ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the first quarter of the Power's win over Melbourne in round 21.
