Four changes for Scotland against England

Scotland coach Andy Robinson has made four changes to his starting lineup for the Six Nations match against England at Twickenham on Sunday.

Winger Simon Danielli, centre Joe Ansbro and scrum-half Rory Lawson were brought in to start alongside Nathan Hines, who takes over at blindside flanker with Kelly Brown switching to number eight.

Mike Blair and Nick De Luca are named on the bench, with Nikki Walker and Johnnie Beattie omitted from the matchday 22 altogether following the 21-18 loss to Ireland, the third defeat in a row for the Scots this year.

Ruaridh Jackson is retained at fly-half, having made his first start against Ireland, while Sean Lamont continues at inside centre.

Scotland are in dire need of a win at Twickenham, but history is not on their side as the last Scottish triumph at the home of English rugby dates back to 1983. In all they have won just four times in 44 matches in London dating back 100 years.

A defeat on Sunday would set up a likely Wooden Spoon showdown with Italy in Edinburgh and cast a dark cloud over Scotland's hopes for the World Cup.

Scotland head coach Andy Robinson, who has occupied the same role with England, said: "The record books show what a special achievement it would be for the Scotland team to win on Sunday.

"That is our intention and we firmly believe that if we can deliver a sustained, intelligent and ruthless performance then we can achieve our first win of this season's championship.

"England have played some good rugby in this championship but Sunday is about our performance.

"Simon Danielli and Rory Lawson have both been playing well for their clubs and Joe Ansbro was unfortunate to miss the game against Ireland through injury, while Nathan Hines' experience will be an asset for us in our back-row."

Scotland:

Chris Paterson, Simon Danielli, Joe Ansbro, Sean Lamont, Max Evans, Ruaridh Jackson, Rory Lawson, Kelly Brown, John Barclay, Nathan Hines, Alastair Kellock (capt),Richie Gray, Moray Low, Ross Ford, Allan Jacobsen. Res: Scott Lawson, Geoff Cross, Richie Vernon, Alasdair Strokosch, Mike Blair, Dan Parks, Nick De Luca.
