Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney will finally return for the Western Bulldogs in the last week of AFL pre-season games.

Cooney missed all of last year's finals series with a hamstring injury and is back after a VFL hitout.

The Bulldogs look much stronger for Saturday's North Ballarat game against North Melbourne, also recalling new captain Matthew Boyd, Barry Hall, Shaun Higgins and Ryan Griffen.

North Melbourne welcome back defender Scott McMahon (broken cheekbone).

Fremantle have named key midfielders David Mundy and Stephen Hill for Saturday's AFL local pre-season match against West Coast.

It will be their their first senior hitouts this year as clubs build up to round one in a fortnight's time.

Mundy has been a concern for the Dockers with a groin injury and Hill is coming back from shin problems.

The Eagles' squad again does not feature veteran onballer Daniel Kerr (hamstring), who is yet to play a pre-season match.

Brisbane defender Josh Drummond has suffered another injury setback and could now be out of action for another month.

Drummond was aiming for a round-one return from a hip injury, but hurt a quadricep muscle last week at training.

In better news for the Lions, they have recalled Matthew Leuenberger and Todd Banfield for Sunday's NAB Challenge game against Gold Coast at Southport.

Jarrod Harbrow, Nathan Krakouer and Michael Rischitelli will come into the Suns squad.

Carlton have named Lachie Henderson and Andrew Carrazzo for Saturday's match against Geelong at Visy Park.

The Cats are also approaching full strength, naming Travis Varcoe, Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey and Cameron Mooney for the game.

St Kilda recalled ruckman Ben McEvoy and forward Sam Gilbert for Saturday night's Coffs Harbour game against Sydney, but key defender Sam Fisher is out until round one because of a facial injury.

The Swans named Gary Rohan, a late withdrawal last week with Achilles tendon soreness, and they will field closeto their full-strength team.
