AFL agent Nixon denies threatening girl

AFL player agent Ricky Nixon has denied allegations he threatened to kill the St Kilda schoolgirl who levelled sex and drug claims against him.

Nixon has also failed to explain why he was in the girl's hotel room wearing only a set of underpants and said her accusations had prompted him to contemplate suicide.

The 17-year-old girl, Kim Duthie, released video showing Nixon in her Melbourne hotel room and claims he had sex with her and provided her with drugs.

Nixon denies those claims, but has been suspended from acting as a players agent because of the allegations.

Nixon admitted on the Seven network's Sunday Night program to telling Duthie words to the effect of, "If this gets out we will both be dead, I will kill you and I will kill myself".

"Yes I did say that, it was one minute after I left the Herald Sun building watching a video that I'd never seen before, in total shock and disbelief that somebody that I'd helped try to get their life back on track would betray me in that way and I said, do you realise a video like that, words to this effect, would destroy both of us," Nixon said.

But he denied that constituted a threat and also denied making threats to kill the girl's family, in claims put to him by Sunday Night.

Nixon said he contemplated suicide while in Britain in the first weeks after Ms Duthie went public with the footage.

"I was in London in total shock and at the lowest ebb of my life wondering what the hell had happened," he said.

"Have you ever stood on a bridge across the Thames and nearly tried to jump off it?"

Nixon admitted he was in Ms Duthie's hotel room but could not explain the video footage she secretly filmed showing him in his underpants.

He also confessed to a flirtatious recording Ms Duthie provided to police in which he said he would look at pictures of her in his phone "when I am on top of you".

"I think you have to actually listen to the conversation and get the context of how I said it, it was very tongue in cheek," Nixon told Sunday Night.

"This girl had been flirtatious for over three to four months. Yes I shouldn't have been flirtatious back but it was very much tongue in cheek."

Nixon also insinuated the girl had tampered with the video footage.

"We're talking about someone who is Generation Y, who is very technically savvy, who is very good at making up text messages and conversations and everything else," he said.

"A lot of that video is fake."

Ms Duthie filmed Nixon in her hotel room in early February, just weeks after she released nude photographs of two St Kilda footballers managed by Nixon.

Nixon told Sunday Night he went to the hotel room because he received a troubling phone call and was concerned for her welfare.

The AFL Players' Association last month suspended Nixon from acting on behalf of footballers for his "inappropriate personal relationship" with Duthie.

He described that process as "media-driven".

"I was under a medical condition in recovery. I wasn't allowed to speak to the board or given adequate time to do it. It was a witch-hunt, it was media driven and I'm not sure they lawfully had the right to investigate me anyway."
