Kiwi Foran wants to take heat off Benji

After missing the buzz of last November's stunning Four Nations upset, Manly five-eighth Keiran Foran desperately wants to help Benji Marshall conjure up another Kiwi boilover against Australia at Skilled Park on Friday night.

The talented 20-year-old is determined to make himself a defensive diversion to absorb some of the intense heat on Marshall who in recent years has orchestrated stinging World Cup and Four Nation victories over the Kangaroos.

"I know they'll load up on Benji defensively," said Foran, who'll line-up against Kangaroos captain Darren Lockyer when he equals Kiwi great Ruben Wiki's world record of 55 Tests.

"You know Benji is going to be stalked.

"They sweat on his every move, they know he is our go-to-man.

"I want to do my best to take some of, or a lot of that pressure off him on Friday night."

Foran, who is privately tutored by former Test No.7 Andrew Johns, has shown he can take a game by the throat a few times already this season and is now keen to do it for a Kiwi side looking to end a 13-year drought in early season trans-Tasman Tests.

"We've won the World Cup, we've won the Four Nations, now it's time to win this one-off Test which has eluded us," said Auckland born Foran.

Australia have a huge advantage over New Zealand because of their combinations honed at club and Origin level.

The Kiwis tend to be tougher to beat once they've bonded in camp and had time to work on their combinations as they proved in their World Cup and Four Nations triumphs.

"They've got the Queensland Origin boys who all play together and they've got all those combinations set and ready to go even before they walk into camp," said Foran.

"We start from scratch and start building these combinations from today. We've got three days to get them right.

"It's going to be a massive game for us. They're going to be really hungry for this after their (Four Nations) defeat and they're going to want revenge.

"But we really want this game as well. Every player in this 19-man squad believes we can go out there on Friday night and upset things."
