Wallabies prop Benn Robinson has ruled himself out of the Rugby World Cup after losing his battle with a knee injury.
The star loosehead tore an anterior cruciate ligament last month, but had been hoping to make a miracle appearance at the tournament starting next month in New Zealand.
But Robinson tweeted on Monday night that he was "heading in for surgery tomorrow".
"Pushed really hard to make it, but knee just isn't right!! Very disheartening!!" he tweeted.
Coach Robbie Deans will announce Australia's 30-man Cup squad on Thursday.
