Muscat handed one-game ban

Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat has escaped an additional suspension by the A-League disciplinary committee and will only serve a mandatory one match ban for his send off last weekend.

Muscat was red carded after a rash first half challenge on Wellington Phoenix player Tim Brown at the Telstra Dome and then kicked advertising hoarding as he left the pitch.

Despite Muscat's erratic behaviour, the FFA decided to only issue a one-match ban for his red card and directed the club to discipline the skipper for his outburst.

Muscat was the fourth Victory player sent off this season but is the first not to have his mandatory ban added to by the FFA disciplinary committee.

Muscat will miss Melbourne's road trip to Perth this weekend but he will return for the club's crucial home clash with Adelaide in a fortnight.
