Cronulla coach Chris Anderson has delivered an ultimatum to the Sharks board - sack me or back me.

On a dramatic afternoon in the nation's capital, Anderson watched his out-of-sorts side get slaughtered 40-12 by Canberra before dropping his post-match bombshell.

The two-time premiership winning coach said rumblings about his future had visibly affected the side and it was time to bring the matter to a head.

"There's been no support publicly for what I'm trying to do," Anderson said.

"I don't think the club has bought into what I'm trying to do.

"They've got to get rid of me or buy into what I'm doing.

"Where we are at the moment is bulls**t.

"It's not enjoyable, I don't need it.

"I'm at a stage where if you're not enjoying it you shouldn't be doing it.

"I don't mind going through tough times.
