St Kilda will console itself with the return of superstar Nick Riewoldt despite reluctantly accepting Fraser Gehrig's controversial one-match suspension.

Riewoldt will make a timely comeback from injury to bolster the Saints forward line for Saturday's AFL clash with Geelong at Telstra Dome.

But the Saints will be without leading goalkicker Gehrig after deciding there was little point appealing his one-match ban for striking.

And another key forward Aaron Hamill is an unlikely starter against the Cats because of an ankle injury sustained last week.
