Carlton captain Anthony Koutoufides won the AFL club's best and fairest award for the second time on Thursday.

Koutoufides, whose previous win in the John Nicholls Medal was in 2001, polled 401 votes, to finish ahead of midfielder Nick Stevens (367) and key position player Lance Whitnall (350).

Former Port Adelaide player Stevens was the runner-up for the second time in his two seasons with the Blues.

Another experienced player Scott Camporeale was in fourth place, with young forward Jarrad Waite fifth.

Goalsneak Eddie Betts won the best first-year player award, while Koutoufides was voted best clubman.
