Former premiership-winning Canberra prop Quentin Pongia will return to the Raiders next year to join the NRL club's coaching staff.

Pongia will link up with former teammate and incoming coach David Furner in 2009 to take up a job as Canberra's rehabilitation officer.

"I can't wait to get back to the green machine and get involved back in the NRL," said Pongia, who will also double as the Raiders' Toyota Cup strength and conditioning coach.

"It will be over 10 years since I've stepped foot back in Canberra."

Pongia, who has been working under the tutelage of Frank Endacott at English club Widnes, helped the Raiders to their last premiership win in 1994.
