Penrith have sacked former player Matt Adamson as an assistant coach as part of a coaching restructure for 2009.

Just over a week after head coach Matthew Elliott survived a full board review into the Panthers end of season fadeout, the club has announced Adamson will not return next year.

Wayne Collins and Steve Georgallis will continue on as assistant coaches under Elliott.

Penrith chief executive Michael Leary announced the changes in a statement.

"The recent end of season debrief with the Board sought to streamline many aspects of our business; coaching was one of those areas," said Leary.

"The club is taking a different approach to its coaching structure. The coaching staff will now comprise of Wayne Collins and Steve Georgallis being assistants to head coach Matthew Elliott."
