Hard running defender Sam Fisher has been voted St Kilda's best player, winning the 2008 Trevor Barker Award.

Since debuting for the Saints in 2003, Fisher finished third in voting in 2006 and was runner-up last year.

This time he compiled 680 votes ahead of Nick Riewoldt on 643 and Lenny Hayes 627.

Recruited from West Adelaide, Fisher has played 96 career games and demonstrated his commitment by signing with the Saints for a further two years.

The 25-year-old ranked third in the AFL for rebound 50s in the 2008 season as well as third overall for marks after taking 192 grabs this year.

Max Hudghton was in fourth spot with 507 votes while the ever-green Robert Harvey rounded out the top five with 492 votes in his final year.

Harvey and fellow retiring great Fraser Gehrig were recognised for their services to the club.

A new award, The Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award, went to Hayes, St Kilda's vice-captain.

Raphael Clarke took out the Most Promising Player Award.
