Fiji prop Iowane Divavesi has been suspended for two matches just hours before his team plays off against Ireland for a rugby league World Cup semi-final berth.

Divavesi will miss Monday night's match at Gold Coast's Skilled Stadium after the World Cup judiciary banned him for tripping following a hearing conducted by video link.

The winner of Monday's clash gets to meet unbeaten tournament favourite Australia in the second semi-final at Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday.

Divavesi's ban follows an incident during his team's loss to Scotland at Gosford's Bluetongue Stadium on Wednesday night.
